Today I went to a play in London. It was entitled “Bigger than Jesus” and believe me, it wasn’t “churchie” at all. On the contrary, it was very controversial.
Afterwards I was giving my friend a ride home and we started talking about how education has helped her a lot in deciding for herself what she believes in regards to faith and what she thinks to be “old school thinking.”
I find it interesting that those who go off to school and get “higher learning” also find themselves coming into contact with other believe structures and a “higher form of learning” in new aged faiths and beliefs.
In one hand, I applaud those for thinking outside of the box and challenging the norm.
In the other hand, I find that when a person is faced with a million different opinions on subjects as important as faith, one can’t help but feel helpless, overwhelmed and at a lose. After hearing all of the sides, one can’t help but become numb to their childhood faith. The innocence is lost.
So what does one do?
Embrace the world and lose your childhood faith or remain sheltered and be thought a simpleton?
What’s a good sense of balance?
